Hard Rock Hotel (&) Casino. Las Vegas
The owner and principal design consultant of the Sin City firm Chemical Spaces http://http//www.chemicalspaces.com/flash/intro.html was tasked with crafting four one-of-a-kind VIP suites as part of a resort-wide remodel. Each suite, constructed from February through June of 2009, boasts a unique theme. Costing $250,000 each, they are dubbed Miami Blue, Punk Rock, Gorilla, and Tree Line.
The Miami Blue Suite was designed to channel the party atmosphere of its namesake city. Its central feature is a massive C-shaped bed that appears to float due to its inherent LED rope lighting and mirror trim. A DJ table and a wall of turntables and boom boxes framed in LED-lit alcove ensure the room rocks—hard. London serves as the muse for the Punk Rock suite. A custom, hand-made Union Jack rug anchors the room while bands of recessed mirrors and hand-painted lines lead one’s eyes to the hardcore hand-painted murals scattered about. The urban jungle gets its nod in the Gorilla suite, meant to be a whimsical take on a classic library and cigar room. WengĂ© wall paneling that was cut into custom shapes and divided with silvery metal striping and a bronzed, mirrored ceiling tame the wildness of the croc-skin custom furniture and hand-painted wall murals of exotic women—and even one gorilla.
Wood becomes less wooden in the Tree Line suite. Tracy started with the concept o creating a hotel room with the illusion of a two-story tree line in the center. He then hand-picked different colors for the tree branches and used them as the basis for the palette of the rest of the room The branch installation is complemented by hardwood floors, cream walls, a mural of blue smoke and gold leaves and skulls, and more LED rope lighting to illuminate it all.
Why leave the room?
